m0sh_man Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 anyone know what part i need to order to fix this leak? its leaking where it snaps into the quick connect at the lower intake. any part numbers? Quote
Robby1870 Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Go to Advance autoparts with the old fitting and ask them for a replacement. It should be a shiny all metal one about $9 unlike the GM one which was pot metal Quote
91CutlassConv Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 You will need to replace the nipple that screws into the intake manifold as well as the plastic insert that makes it a quick disconect. Mine leaked as well, I was stupid and went to the dealer for the nipple, but an auto parts store will be cheaper, for some reason at the time I thought it was a dealer specfic part. Jason Quote
boostnawd Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Careful with that fitting. You can *very* easily break it off inside the intake. I had two cars that leaked there, first one I tried replacing it and it broke.. what a headache. 2nd car, I said screw that, I put tons of rtv around the fitting and it hasn't leaked in two years. musthavemuzk Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 yes be verry careful i had to replace my lower intake last fall as that fitting broke and i could not get it out. so off came the lower intake. http://www.dbfanatics.com/forum/photo_album_view.asp?cname=underhood&mid=16&cid=248 now here is what i am doing http://www.dbfanatics.com/forum/photo_album_view.asp?cname=cutlassheadgaskets&mid=16&cid=261 yeah for fun Monty Quote
91CutlassConv Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 My fitting broke off inside the intake also. What I did with great success was jam a torx bit into the opening, inside the broken off nipple, then connected a ratchet and cranked that bad boy right out. Sorry I do not remember what size torx bit I used, but it worked great! Jason Quote
