viper0702
I'm a newbie and am a little emarrassed that I don't know this. Where EXACTLY is the recharge port? I found the low pressure evaporative port (green cap) near the firewall, but the connector on the can of 134 doesn't fit/stay on. Just bought the car last weekend and the AC doesn't work. Moving to FL in 2 weeks and will definately need it there. 98 Lumina 3100 V6 86K
Brian P
did you buy the proper 134A hose and connections? The recarge port will be the bigger valve naturally.
Slade901
The re-charge port is usually BEFORE the compressor or ON the compressor itself. Any HOSE or PORT coming out of the compressor is the High side.
viper0702
The 134 can I got has the connector built in, like a can of fix a flat. Exactly where is the compressor? I haven't had a chance to get the Chiltons book for it yet, and obviously I'm not very knowledgeable on the locations of the engine parts.( I hope to change that with this car) Thanks
Slade901
The compressor is usually located in the middle front of the engine. Follow the serpentine belt, the long belt that goes around the components. The alternator and steering pump is usually located on top. The alternator has its pulleys with vanes that help it cool down. The steering pump has a reservior next to it to fill up the steering pump fluid. Brian P
I would try to find a charge kit with the blue hose, and get the cans that screw to the other end of it. I've always used them and haven't had fitment issues.
