SantaCruzTGP
So my check guages light is on and the service engine soon light is going on and off, and I just had it smogged and it didn't pass. Here's what I've done: New upper and lower intake manifold gaskets New o2 sensor New Jeff W Crossover Fresh Flush and new coolant New Plugs and Wires and distributor housing. New TPS Replaced Dist. gear housing 0-ring. Oil, and filter. New Air filter. Anybody have any ideas as to What could be causing the high emissions, The emissions read 282 at idle, when 120 is the limit. I'm thinking the Catalytic converter might be bad??? digitaloutsider
It's probably nothing wrong with your car. It's the damn POS clusters. Directions to fix it are on this site.
RareGMFan
Here's what I've done: New Jeff W Crossover You might have been better off with a Jeff M pipe, instead of an immitation Jeff W...j/k As far as the dash lights go, it might be the cluster just as Diggy suggested. The cat being plugged is a very good possibility, especially on cars with as many years and miles as ours. I plan on getting full exhaust work done shortly, right after I get pretty much everything you've got listed there done on mine.
god910
New Plugs and Wires and distributor housing. You got a new distributor housing? Why? :?: :?: :?:
TGPilot
In your list of things done it says nothing about injectors. Did you OHM out each one of the injectors when you had the intake off to see if you had one or more shorted? 8)

Pontiac6KSTEAWD
New upper and lower intake manifold gaskets New o2 sensor New Jeff W Crossover Fresh Flush and new coolant New Plugs and Wires and distributor housing. New TPS Replaced Dist. gear housing 0-ring. Oil, and filter. New Air filter. Im thinking more along the lines of a EGR valve, or just the passage out of the EGR valve into the throttle body. Mine was clogged to $hiz and wouldnt pass. Took off the EGR valve and it the passage completely clogged. Chisseled it out with a screwdriver, and brushed it with gasoline and a copper toothbrush till clean. Passed emissions with flying colors. Thats my 2 cents. Whats the code on the SES light, if there is a code... I love my new 90 TGP, all the lights work, and all the lights are out when running,,,thank goodness... SantaCruzTGP
YEA THE DISTRIBUTOR HOUSING, AND ALL THE INTERNALS, SUCH AS THE COILS. YOU CAN'T CALL THIS THING A DISTRIBUTER CAP, SO I'LL CALL IT A NEW DISTRIBUTOR MODULE. AS FOR THE CLUSTER ISSUE, I'M SUPER GREEN, CAN YOU ELABORATE? WHAT DO YOU MEAN POS CLUSTER. THE GUAGE CLUSTER? I DON'T HAVE ANYWAY OF DETERMINING WHAT IT COULD BE OTHER THAN REPLACING PARTS ON A RECOMMENDED BASIS. I'M GOING TO TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HAVE HIM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IT CAN'T BE TO COMPLICATED, IT PASSED ALL THE EMISSIONS TESTS EXCEPT FOR THE LOW IDLE HYDROCARBON TEST. PLUS I DON'T HAVE THE FACILITIES TO WELD ON A NEW CAT IF THAT TURNS OUT TO BE THE ISSUE. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS CALIFORNIA, OUR EMISSIONS STANDARDS ARE PRETTY STRICT. I WANT TO GET RID OF ALL THE STUPID LITTLE SCROLLING MESSAGES, LIKE CHANGE OIL, CHECK GUAGES, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, i CAN'T GET RID OF THOSE, I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED INTO THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER FOR THOSE TO CLEAR. SHIT, TOO BAD I AINT IN KENTUCKY! YEEE HAW, SLAPPITY SLAP. NO OFFENSE!
