Robby1870 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I bought a 3.1L about a 6 months ago, and the owner said on start up one day, it just wouldnt turn over anymore, he even tried turning it over with his hand, and it would only rotate like 345-350 degrees, then stop. Well...here's why. BTW these pics are overexposed (brightened up) so you can see details. This was the #3 piston, and thats the exhaust valve sticking up. Enjoy! Quote
Cornerdealy Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 now all i see is the fortune city logo Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 holy crap is the valve actually stuck in the piston??!?!?!?!! Quote
Vegeta Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Thats a high performance piston now, exhaust valve built right in. Ebay that bitch! Quote
Robby1870 Posted April 11, 2004 Author Report Posted April 11, 2004 yeah...you can see the end of the broken valve stem from the underside of the piston. I think I'll get the wrist pin pressed out, clean it up, and it'll be a paper weight, lol Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Holy crap! Did the valve fall in from a broken spring, or did the stem break? Quote

Robby1870 Posted April 12, 2004 Author Report Posted April 12, 2004 No, it came from a 1992 Cutty, and the valve stem broke on startup. The springs are still good, it bent one other valve too EDIT: MaroonRegal, here are the links to them, hopefully you'll be able to see them now: http://members.fortunecity.com/robby1870/piston&valve1resize.jpg http://members.fortunecity.com/robby1870/piston&valve2resize.jpg http://members.fortunecity.com/robby1870/piston&valve3resize.jpg Quote
