what are aldl and where is it located??

yeah i am wonderin what aldl is and where it is located at on a 89 cutlass supreme sl

ALDL is Assembly Line Diagnostic Link. It is a connector that allows you to plug in a scanning tool and get data from your engine computer(ECM). It is also where you can short two pins together to make your Check Engine light blink out stored codes.

 

On a Cutlass it is located under the dash near the steering column.

 

Er, don't you have a manual or something? Even Chilton's and Haynes have info on this...

 

If you don't have one, buy it tomorrow. You will get buttloads of questions answered for only $15.

well i got one and all but malibuolds said sumfin bout gettin a tachometer reading from the aldl and i was kinda wonderin if it is possible

Which one you got?

 

I have the holy grail - the phone book sized dealer shop manual. It is that big and it only covers one car - the 1990 Cutlass.

well i got haynes the one that covers several cars

 

so is it possible to get a signal from there
