If the engine is out, you simply unhook and remove the outer ends, cut the clamps on the rack and pinion boots, and you'll probably be able to get a bigass vice grip or channellock pliers on there and get them loose. there is a special tool just for the job that makes them easy as pie, and it works equally as well if the engine's in there.

I guess you can use some big ass vise grips or a pipe wrench. :roll: I got the tool from AZ, OR"S has them also. It's about 1 1/2 to 2'' long piece of tubing shaped like a socket on the end. It slides over the tie rod. They loan the tie rod remover also. Better than beating the shit out of it with a hammer.

 

Hose clamps will work for the boot's unles you have the crimper. The parts store's didn't.
