Robby1870 Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Id recommend fuel lines for those vacuum lines, flexible, and wont crack. When I have to replace those plastic lines, I always replace with fuel lines or regular rubber vacuum lines. Just get a long piece and cut to fit Quote
mfewtrail Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Davis, I replaced mine on my 93 SE w/ black silicone hose from a local "speed shop" that carries it..I went w/ lines a bit larger then the stock ones though, haven't had ANY problems out of the car concerning vacuum in the year since I replaced them..hoses still look/feel new. Few online vendors I found doing a quick search.. http://www.bakerprecision.com/hosetech.htm http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-silhos.htm http://www.mr2sc.com/websites/Products/VacuumHose.htm http://www.hoseline.net/ahe/ http://www.alamomotorsports.com/products.html?http://www.alamomotorsports.com/bp/vacuum.html http://auto.absave.com/Interior-Exterior/Black_Silicone_Vacuum_Hose_Detailing_Kit_L1703/ Quote
mfewtrail Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 You're welcome 8) I tried to find most places that have *black* lines for you since I remember the other thread where you wanted black couplers. I'm thinking of going w/ some red silicone replacements on the TGP(if I decide on a red/gray underhood scheme I'm thinking of)...debating whether or not to modify the underhood appeareance of the car or leave the stock/clean look to it. Jeff M Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 WOW  That was some great reply info!! I hate to say anything, don't want to sound like I am saying anything less about the great ideas here, just wanted to mention the entire 4 line vacuum hose kit is still at GM for all of $22.00 part number 10114903. To give the car a little nod, your 15 year old plastic lines will break when yanked on too hard, but this is more so from the age and heat (along with the yanking ), so not too suprising, new will last that long, again . Since these are an important item to have on the TGP, and before GM discontiues these, I bought 40 sets of these to have for the next ?? years for TGP owners . Good luck! Jeff M Quote
god910 Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 colour You know what Davis, IMA let this one go. But next time, it's ON!!!! Friggin Canardians. Quote
z24 turbo 93 Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I don't know if they can discontinue them. I thought that they have to keep making parts for cars. Not all parts just parts that are vital to letting the car run?! Atleast thats what i think my father told me and he works at a gm dealership Quote
Jeff M Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I don't know if they can discontinue them. I thought that they have to keep making parts for cars. Not all parts just parts that are vital to letting the car run?! Atleast thats what i think my father told me and he works at a gm dealership This part was quoted as available and it is for now. As for how long, you are right, they are required to keep parts for a while, 7 years is the norm, but not always, some are gone before then, and some still there many years after like you say, and not just crucial ones though body parts and engine parts are kept the most it seems. Last year I went through 3 months of researching what parts were crucial, important and good to have for the TGP and TSTE, some were gone/too late like upper radiator hose, tranny cooling lines, throttle body vacuum line clip , many were getting low (snatched them up fast) and some where aplenty since were common to GPs till 1996. Even if GM has 500 of a part, if they have had it long enough/past the 7 year point and decide they are done carrying it, it all gets crushed or sent to outside vendors . In the end, you guys can find what you need out there in the salvage yards, or GM, or custom, or me, a good list of options 8) . Jeff M Quote

Indeed, and understandable in a rhetorical sort of fashion though more gratifying for those existentialists who ingratiate themselves to this. Sup bro, getit straight and don’t be late. Wicked good of you! Many others!! It is like Europe here with different cultures/like countries all in one area, and no one has more of them then the US-ah? I have had customers/helped others from all over the world, great fun to adopt their way of talking as much as their language, best ones are the French and Ausies, great fun with those. And yes it was in all fun, I think it’s a stress reliever to have a level of comfort to let loose, so we like it if you give it back!! We need more joviality here than bashing 8) !! Jeff M Quote
