88Intl Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 The small auxilary springs on an early W-body rear suspension are elastomer, as used in many mountain bike suspension forks. Was just reading a page on tips for mountain biking in Alaska winter "Elastomer suspensions generally stop moving between 20 F and 0 F but they don't seem to be damaged by the cold. gpse3200 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Those springs are more that what they appear to be. There is a metal mesh in the rubber encasement on the cylindrical springs. I'm not sure about the figures 8's but I beleive there is a metal frame work in them too. Quote
Brian P Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 yeah the figure 8's have a metal cream filling too Quote
