MommyTaz022200 Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Someone wanted to see what the Auto shiftboot looked like when it was done, but I can't remember who it was. Anyway here it is: The rear spoiler is also done. The 3rd brakelight on it is now a reflector. I had thought I got it off a Sunfire but when I went back to the junkyard I looked at the car again and found it was a Geo Storm. Anyway I got this one cause it's not as wide as the factory Prix's are so it don't hit my antenna. The pictures are kind of bad, my car needs a wash and wax but I'm sanding the rust so I'll clean and polish it when I'm done. (My paint is not flaking as it looks like in the pics., that's rain) Here's the gauge Benzel I bought. If you look closely you can also see that I got rid of the orange dash lights for blue with white needles. Here's the antenna I bought to replace my broken power one. It's made of rubber, but gets great reception, and this one is unbreakable (I can bend it right in half) That concludes the 2003-2004 Winter projects I completed. (I think...) Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Looks great! Alothough I would have gone w/ a GP spoiler, it looks great Quote

MommyTaz022200 Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 Where did you get the Benzel ? Do they have them for digital clusters? I got the Benzel from speedhut. I'm not sure if they have any for the digital cluster. The one I have is actually for the 1993-1996 Camero. I figured out they use the same gauges as the Grand Prix sport cluster ones while I was at the junkyard trying to find a car with a shifter boot that would fit in mine. I ended up making the shifter boot cause I couldn't find one but I learned to look for gauge benzel's for Cameros. I got mine at http://www.speedhut.com Mine is not a perfect fit though- if you look closely you can see that the bottom curves upward for the camero's steering column. I am working with speedhut on getting an exact fit. Hopefully, since they know the placement of the gauges and that the only differences between my gauges and the camero's are the bottom and the speedometer on the camero reads to 180, they will decide to make glogauges soon. how did you change the dash lights to blue? I took the gauges out, took them apart, removed the needles, pulled the plastic sheet with the writing on it off the clear plastic frame, removed the glue shit from the plastic sheet, used very fine wet/dry sandpaper and sanded the back of the plastic sheet until the orange was gone and the numbers were a whiteish clear color. Then I used a blue sharpie and colored the sanded area. then used 2 sided tape to attach the plastic sheet to the plastic frame. For the needles I lightly ran a razor blade across the back of them until the orange was gone, then painted them with whiteout. I learned from my mistakes with this that if your going to remove the needles you have to make sure you mark where they lined up on the little pegs before you take them off. in the first two weeks after I colored them I got pulled over for speeding and ran out of gas when my needle said 1/2 tank (my low fuel light was on, I should have figured the needles were off) I fixed them by 1 full tank of gas and moved it to full, 1 friend talking to me on their cell while I drove behind them at 10 mph with the dash apart, a volt meter on the battery termanil with the car running, and my ex's friend (a mechanic) taking my car's temp while I put the needle at the temp he said it was. The oil pressure might still be wrong. did you buy or make the gauge bezel? Answered above Quote
MommyTaz022200 Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 Same Question here! i wanna know, im currently working on swaping out all dash bulbs Swapping bulbs don't work very well since the colored bulbs are behind the plastic that is orange. I tried to color my bulbs to see if it would work before I bought a bunch of blue blubs and got the color of puke (blue & orange make an ugly color). Quote
whiteSE Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 That overlay is very cool - I never realized that the GP's had basically the same cluster and arrangement. I may just add one of those to my GP in the next few months. It looks like it just tapes right over the existing gauges? So you don't have to remove the cover or half the dash to install it. Am I right? Your car is looking great. Quote
musthavemuzk Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 thank you mommytaz right now i am driving the 93 GP til i can fix the cutlass. but since i am driving it i may as well find ways to make it better. just in case i keep it. Monty Quote
