93 Grand Prix Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 What is the difference between a cooling temperature switch, and cooling temperature sensor? Where is the switch located? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 a cooling fan *switch* just means that it basially reads on & off. in other words it makes an idiot light in your dash come on or off....so a 'HOT' light in your cluster would be either on of off depending on if your car was overheating or not. a coolant temperature *sensor* actually controls a guage, and usually reads something like 0 - .5 Volts so you can acually tell what temperature your engine is running. i had to replace my oil pressure switch with an oil pressure sender (sensor) when i did my base cluster --> gauges cluster swap. the guages cluster actually tells you the actual oil pressure (sorta), wheras the base cluster will only light up a 'LOW' light. joshua Quote
