conley3.1 Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I'm trying to take out the drivers side half shaft on my 92 Lumina. I've got a hub puller, and i've got the hub seperated from the control arm. How do I get the half shaft out of the transmission? Quote
Intimidatorz34 Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 just get a big pry bar, I had the same problem, there is a snap ring holding it in Quote
SmoothSteve3 Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I agree.......you just have to pull on it really hard.....it took me, my dad, and my mechanic friend about 2 minutes with all three of us yanking on it... SmoothSteve Quote
PaPaPooh Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 noo not good the cv joint will come right out of the socket best way is like mention before the way to do it is get the pry bar between the case and axle and pry it out that way be glad that you didn't seperate the cv joint and rip the boot good luck Quote
conley3.1 Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 Yeah, I didn't pull on it for specifically that reason. Gotta find a smaller prybar now. Thanks everyone Quote
Z34door Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 the right way is to use a slide hammer........... Quote
stockgp Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 i used a big screwdriver. but yeah, the slide hammer is what you're suppesed to use cough....screwdriver...cough. but only cuz i couldn't seem to fit a pry bar in to get it out Quote
brian89gp Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I got a crow bar and put the straight side up behind one of the 3 buldges in the thing, then jammed the crow bar between the sway bar and subframe to use as fulcrum. One swift kick on the crow bar and the thing will pop out. Quote
White93z34 Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 yep, what those guys said. very easy to remove. Quote
