loominaz34 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 My dad was looking at his old/ my new 1992 Lumina Z34 and realized that that small oil leak was not, in fact, oil but browned transmission fluid. The car was driven nicely its whole life and has 117k miles on it. Is there any hope for the tranny in this poor car? I'd like to avoid transmission work if possible but i wont let this car not be Mine.My dad likes the idea of giving my the lumina because he's going to save the money he would have had to spend on a new car. I like it because its cooler than a civic. I'm working very hard for that 4.0 GPA (5.0 scale) sorry for the rambling. Quote
Brian P Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Change the tranny fluid and filter, don't do a tranny flush. Dropping the pan only drains 2/3 the fluid (or less) that way you won't shock the trans with all new fluid Quote
