dohc v6 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 if i get 17's on 225/45/17 what would be my gap between the fender and the top of the tire. i also have lowering springs. any pictures would be great. Quote
Heza Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 just get 245/45-17s. thats the best tire size to maintain accurate speeds on your speedo. Quote
loominaz34 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Isn't that first number, the 225 or 245 the WIDTH of the tire? so unless the aspect ratio is different wouldnt they be the same diameter? I'm a noob to this car stuff so i could be wrong but whatever. Quote
slick Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Go to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html. Yes, 225 and 245 are the width. Anyways, that link will give you a good measurement of what you need. Quote
Z34door Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 dude........ a 245/45 and a 225/45 have different circumferences be cause the aspect ratio is a % compared to the tread width...... so a 245/45 would have a taller sidewall than a 225/45 thus a greater circumference but ideal for a w-body is 26.3 so as long as you keep it into the 26 range you shouldn't be real far off the optimum tire size according to the miata chart is a 235/50/R17........ THE 245/45 WILL MAKE YOUR SPEEDO READ 1.5 MPH FAST Quote
