no1kicker Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I need to convert to 4.5V 600mA for a portable cd player. I have one from radio shack that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It gets bumped and loses the connection often which is annoying. I want to hard wire a 4.5V plug in my console. What is the best way to do this? Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 One of those 3-pin voltage regulators would be the easiest way. They have an IN, OUT, and GND. IN would be your +12V, OUT your regulated voltage. I know they have +12 and +5V ones. I don't know if there's a 4.5V one though. If not, you can always use an LM317T adjustable regulator and size the resistors appropriately so that you get a regulated 4.5V output. Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Rip apart the plug and tap the wires for the lighter? Quote
