tgpguy21
is there any way that you could just seal a crack in an existing cross over pipe?
GnatGoSplat
You could have straight tube welded in place of the flex bellows. I'd be concerned about the straight tube putting stress on the exhaust manifolds though.
tgpguy21
so in other words its better to just buy a new one or is it worth a try to fix this one.
GnatGoSplat
I would buy a rebuilt one from Jeff M, his has some pretty cool flex joints. The weldor he uses does really good work too, very nice welds. It's also all T-409 stainless. You could get yours welded up, but if it ever cracks or has problems, it might not be a usable core ($100 credit from Jeff). I had my first pipe welded up locally with straight pipe. They charged me $140. They needed the car, so towing cost me $35 there, and $35 back. They didn't have T-409 stainless, so they welded it with aluminized steel pipe. I never had any problems with it. However, now that Jeff has pipes with fancy flex joints, it's definitely worth the extra money for the better materials and superb welding.
