Question for the Gearheads on W-body (GP Specific)

In 1990 did GM make both 2 and 4 doors GP unibodies with BOTH access holes for the 2 and 4 door on the same body style? I know the 2 door models probably had both cuz they used both floor and column shifters. But what about the 4 doors? They only came with the column shift excecpt for the STE model.

I've noticed on 2 door floor shift models, the gear selector cable enters the firewall on the passenger side right under the dammed heater/evap core unit (Grrrr).

While the 4 door colunm shift gear selector cable enters the firewall on the drivers side, up high to the right of the brake booster.

Need help .. Converting column shifting 4 door LE to floor shifter.

some 2 doors in '90-91 actually ran the floor shift cable thru the same hole that the column shift cable would go through (near the master cylinder) matter of fact I did this myself on my old '90 Cutlass coupe when I changed over to floor shift. It would technically be better to have the floor shift cable go in on the passenger side, but some cars don't have the hole predrilled.

Brian,

Well Techincally as you probably already know, all the 2 and 4 door cables were routed the same. They might have had different entry points. But take the 2 floor shifters for example, The ones I've see route the cable to the same location as the column shifters, but instead of going into the firewall at the brake booster, they just TURN the cables inside a firewall bulk plate and to the passenger side. The only difference is that the cables that were run into the firewall at the brake booster location, had the cables run mainly inside the car instead of outside.. I think I'll be able to use the brake booster firewall hole location if the rubber gromment will slide up the cable to that location on the 4 door.
