phantomshado Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Like the title says. My trunk lid tumbler is fucked. I can't get into my trunk, I do not have a trunk release or fold down seats. What can I do, short of taking out the back seat? I've tried graphite lube too... I'm stumped and fucked all at the same time. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Here's how I got into mine when the cylinder froze up...... Prolly not the best recommendation, but it worked. Quote
jamcneely Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Holy Shit, you really needed your stuff in the trunk that bad? Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Holy Shit, you really needed your stuff in the trunk that bad? Yep! I had just moved when I wrecked the car, so I had a bunch of stuff in the trunk. 'Home' was a good 3 hours away from my new place, so I needed the stuff out of there ASAP. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 I think it would have been easier just to pull the backseat!!! Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Wouldn't have done me any good... all it had was that little 3" passthru hole.. rest of it is sheetmetal. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Yeah, but I thought if you pull the seat and some metal bracing that the hole that's left is a lot bigger than the pass thru? Quote
ismellrealbad Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 i can crawl into my trunk with the backseat out easily. u have to take that black stuff outta the way though but its a nice sized hole Quote

hazmatic Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 take the back seat out and remove the black stuff(sound dfening material) and its a good size hole trust me i know i had to learn the hard way when my lilttle brother locked the keys in my trunk n i didnt have a relase button either Quote
phantomshado Posted March 8, 2004 Author Report Posted March 8, 2004 Solution to this... 1 high speed drill 1 3/8" drill bit lots of swearing 1 new tumbler I drilled out the tumbler and opened it with a screwdriver. then I removed the old lock and tossed the new lock in. Quote
