experienced in replacing front end steering parts? pls read.

95 Cutlass Convertible, 130,000mi.

 

Steering is a bit looser than I'd expect; there are other W body's in my extended family so I think I know what ought to be "normal".

Is there a good rule of thumb on what typically wears out on these? Inner or outer tie rod ends? Lower/upper ball joints? The struts are new. Tires are good with a fairly stiff sidewall (Eagle RSA). Steering just feels vague and sloppy, especially when I hit a groove or its windy on the highway.

 

I guess I could climb underneath with a helper moving the steering wheel back and forth, but I was hoping to learn what it could commonly be, to help narrow my search time.
