canusa Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 ok i bought headlight strobes and led's. i was trying to drill the hole to install them.. and the headlight shattered in my hands. how did you guys install your strobes/leds? oh btw this is meant for the mini quad headlights. the whole sealed lamp is glass. how am i supposed to successfully drill a hole in that ?? please help. thanks, -canusa Quote
sniperi311 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 you sure that you saw them in the mini quad headlights? that seems as though it would be impossible considering there all glass, id say try in the turn signals or for lights. Quote
slick Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Werd, don't put them in our headlights. Like Sniper stated, put them in your fogs. Quote
pblunt_ Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 I just paid $15 to have mine installed. Quote
canusa Posted February 29, 2004 Author Report Posted February 29, 2004 :? i've never seen anyone with them in teh mini quads.. i was just kinda hopeing that someone did it. hmmm i dunno.. i think they'd look really good in the headlights... there's gotta be a way. i'm all open to suggestions Quote
pblunt_ Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Do what I did just have professional do it, and if they break, they replace. Quote
slick Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 But you also have the full headlights, he has the mini quads. Quote
canusa Posted February 29, 2004 Author Report Posted February 29, 2004 anyone know if there's anything such as glass drill bits? Quote
Broan Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Carbide or diamond tipped bits would work I think Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 yes there is. i used to buy them a long time ago so i could make water bongs out of glass flower vases you can find them at any hardware store. joshua Quote
canusa Posted February 29, 2004 Author Report Posted February 29, 2004 lol.. different use i guess, but it's all good thanks guys i'm gonna try that. canusa Quote
slick Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 For some ungodly reason, im not suprised that bongs came up. Quote
Goph Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I don't think you will be able to drill them. I have LED's in my fog lights and turns, and it don't look to bad plus i can use the ones in the fog at night going down the road and what not with out turning off the headlights. Quote
93 Cutlass Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 What happens when one of you mini-quads burn out? Its back to square one. I agree that you should put them in either your fogs or your parking lights. Quote
canusa Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 thats the thing. i know people have them in there foglights and turn signals.. the leds will be going in the highbeams.. so i can still use them going down the roads.. without turning off my lights.. and the strobes are gonna go in the low beams. Just to be different from teh other people who have them in there fogs and stuff. and if one of the mini quads burns out. i did teh 9006/9005 converstion. so basically all i would do is replace the bulb.. not the whole headlamp Quote
Gearhead43 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I have the Whelen SPS660 and SPS460 60 watt Hide-a-way Strobes and power packs. I installed them into the parking lights, and Fogs up front, plus the tails and the back up lights in the rear. With multiple switching for front and rear. For your headlights you can always buy the wig-wag multi pattern flashers for them. The flashers do not install inside the headlights, but the wiring just spilces into the cars existing wiring. Headlamps operate normally til the flasher swtich is activated. Quote
canusa Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 wig wag multi pattern flashers? which is?? sounds interesting. Quote
Gearhead43 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Wig-wags.. Uses the STD bulbs in he headlights to flash them alternatively. http://www.vlsusa.com/cgi-bin/vlsusa/scan/fi=products/st=db/co=1/sf=category/se=Flashers/op=eq/nu=0/tc=n/tf=sort_order/cs=1/ml=50/va=pgtitle=Whelen%20Flashers.html?id=6KcBPTUj Quote

Gearhead43 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 There's even cheaper Galls stuff on ebay. The NOVA Strobes aren't bad at all..... Quote
Z34door Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 ok go to napa and get plastic case miniquads............ they came on the 88-89 fullsize trucks that had mini quads...... glass drilling problem solved.. Quote
93 Cutlass Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 So I'm assuming you are either a fireman or an LEO that uses you own car on duty. If not, why do you want to put strobes and LED's on your car? Quote
canusa Posted March 2, 2004 Author Report Posted March 2, 2004 for the fun of it.. why do we do anything to our cars.. because we can no i'm not a fireman or anything like that.. i can still put them on at shows, and stuff like that. gearhead, i also have whalen strobes. apparently they are pretty good.. i'm not sure since i haven't installed them yet :? anyways. anyone know how much these wig wag things run for? i think that would look good with the strobes and leds. anyone have a video of there strobes in the fogs/ park lamps? Quote
grandprix104 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 you can find the strobe units (even use your stock headlights) in the JC Whitney Catalog. Quote
