Marcus18 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 is there a way to get it off without ruining it? marcus Quote
z24 turbo 93 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 just cut the spot welds.......or you can pry it off like i did. If you can get a screwdriver inbetween the two just pry on it and most of the welds should break loose. Then just rip the remaining off. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 do you really want to save it? i was under the impression that the stock heat shield is one of the reasons that the crossover fails :?: i was just looking at my rebuilt crossover and i kinda doubt the heat shield would fit anyway with the new SS flex bellows on there. joshua Quote
tgpguy21 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 yeah if you have a rebuilt crossover pipe i doubt the stock heat shield would work. I was actually thinkin of maybe turbo exhaust wrapin my new crossover. Other wise what is everyone else doin just leavin it in the open??? Quote
TurboGTU Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I drilled out the spot welds and pryed it off. Thats about the only way. I reused mine because I hate heat soak. The fuel lines, water lines are too close to the x-over. heat wrap works just as well. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I put thermotec loom on my fuel lines. I basically just replaced the black loom that was on there with shiny silver Thermotec loom. After several hard runs, the engine compartment was hot but the lines and loom were still cool to the touch. Quote
