dohc v6 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 EVERY TIME I TURN MY WHEELS LEFT OR RIGHT I HEAR A CLUMK TYPE NOISE. I DONT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT COULDBE. ON MY OTHER LUMINA I CHANGED THE BALL JOINTS AND IT WENT AWAY Quote
92turboLE Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 is it just a sound or can you feel it in the floorboards... mine did that for a while, then my rear subframe bolts snapped... turned out the clunk was the subfrom shifting... otherwise, try and wiggle your front wheels and if they move, check the ball joints - Justin Quote
dohc v6 Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 IT IS PRETTY BAD. I CAN HEAR IT VERY WELL WHEN THE RADIO IS OFF. I JUST HAD THE TRANNY REBUILT TO. Quote
92turboLE Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 WHERE DID YOU HAVE TI DONE??? PLEASE DONT SAY AAMCO - Justin Quote
ShockTherapy Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 do not use AAMCO, they totally fucked my regal up, they're the reason it needed like, $4000 worth of repairs and i had to get that piece of shit i call a saturn. Quote
CPSMonteZ34 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 If the clunking is repetative when moving in a turn, and the ball joints are alright, there's a good chance CV joints are worn. Quote
xxXRandyyXxx Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 i had the same exact problem with my 89 cutty, it was the CV joints. have fun 8) Quote
dohc v6 Posted February 27, 2004 Author Report Posted February 27, 2004 how much and are they hard to replace. Quote
slick Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 God I hate those bastards. Pain in the royal ass. After a days work, i ended up having a shop do them. Quote
SmoothSteve3 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Hell, for all the time and trouble, just install a brand new halfshaft.....that way you not only get a new CV joint, but a halfshaft too.... And its a lot easier than replacing just the CV joint..... Quote

Jcrow Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 I have a clunk that used to only happen when turning left and right, So I got new struts and strut mounts, engine mounts (all), balljoints, passanger CV shaft, wheel bearing hub, new cradle bolts, cups and rubber bushings. After all that it now clunks everytime I hit the gas and everytime I hit the brakes, in addition to turning!? I can feel the clunk in the floor just above the rear cradle mounts, I pulled back the rug and I can see cracks in the rubber coating over the floor. Quote
dohc v6 Posted June 30, 2004 Author Report Posted June 30, 2004 I DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. IT IS LIKE WHEN EVER I GO OVER A BUMP IT HAPPENS. ALSO IT IS NEVER WHEN I TURN. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 GEE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS EITHER, MAYBE IT HAS SOMETHING DO TO WITH YOUR INCAPABILITY TO TURN CAPS LOCK OFF. Quote
