Does anyone know the part # for a memcal from GM? I want to run a custom chip but the old one is soldered in. Thanks!

How do you have a chip and no MEMCAL? I wasn't aware that Jeff sold the chips w/o MEMCALs. Or did you have someone make a copy for you? Either way, what soldering iron do you plan on using? I can't find one small enough to get in there (for less than $100 that is.)

The Chip is a ripped off copy of jeff's chip if it is a Top gun chip. He has never sold one that was not soldered in!!! (Jim steps away from the keyboard.)

Chill out there buddy...The chip was bought from jeff, even he will tell u that...so no, its not some ripped off copy from jeff.

Yeah, if it's not soldered in a memcal and it's the eprom only then it's probably a bootleg chip. :x

Over 23 chips were used for my car, why would ya need 23 memcals???? Thats why the chip is not in a memcal. because when a new one would come it was just placed in the same memcal, instead of buying a new memcal every time...get it?

So, I'm guessing you have a ZIF socket.

That makes sense as it would be a big waste of time to keep soldering in new chip. I have a little adapter that I use so that I never even have to remove the eprom from the memcal, and my UVeraser is an industrial one that I got off of ebay and it can fit over 15 memcals in it!!

Ok, so what is the best way to get this chip in? I can't seem to find a memcal that doesn't already have a chip in it. Should I just try to unsolder and put in? Get an adapter? Something else?
