Guest Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 So i took my car to a few exhaust shops today to get prices on hanging my new exhaust, and one of the mechanics noticed that my monoleaf is splintering slightly on one end where it meets the "puck". He said that this definately needs to be replaced and that they run about $350 from a junkyard. Is this really a big deal, or can i get by without having to worry about it? Thanks - Drew Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 mine was splintered slightly when i took it out (for coilovers). i don't think it's anything to worry about but then again i really don't know. $350 for a j/y monoleaf is just crazy. might as well get FFP coilovers. i wouldn't pay more than $50 or so for a good used one. joshua Quote
sniperi311 Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 if you do the conversion from leaf to coil overs is it very hard, or has anyone ever done it? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 the only hard part is removing the old monoleaf, which isn't THAT hard to do. the rest is very easy. joshua Quote
sniperi311 Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 any welding, or any special tools needed, besides a lift, and are they strong? and this is off the subject, but has anybody heard anything about the monoleaf spring that was supposed to be out or whatever from flex-a-form, and yes i did a search, couldnt find it on here Quote
Guest Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Back to the question at hand, is the splintering monoleaf a big problem? Quote
mfewtrail Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Back to the question at hand, is the splintering monoleaf a big problem? If it's slightly cracked on the surface, I doubt it would pose a problem. Quote
