WhiteOut
Okay here goes. I'm helping my friend out with replacing the DIS/ICM and all the coil packs on his 94' LQ1, but we can't get the damn thing off the engine. We've already removed the starter motor, the oil filter and the three bolts and the nut holding it in place, but on the stud (where the nut was holding the DIS module in place, rear passenger side) there's the DIC module bracket and then another bracket that holds the plug wires. And the damn bracket holding the plug wires won't budge so I can slide the DIS bracket out from beneath it, plus it looks like the other nut holding the plug bracket in place is hidden behind the AC Compressor, so taking that off completely looks to be a total pain in the ass. Please tell me there's a way to do this without taking the AC Compressor off!!! If anyone can help here I'd really appreciate it so that I can get it running tonight!!! Am I nuts or is this an even bigger pain in the ass than doing the upper/lower intake gaskets? I can not believe how tight that thing is in there. gp90se
IIRC, theres 4 bolts on an lq1 ICM which can all be taken off with a wrench. try getting behind the AC compressor from the top. -Jeff
WhiteOut
No man, there's there's three bolts and a nut on a stud. And the damn stud has the ICM bracket and a plug wire bracket on it. Trust me, its whats stopping me from getting the ICM off.
WhiteOut
UPDATE: I used my brain and ended up just removing all of the coils and ICM module instead of trying to get the bracket and the module/coils all at once. DUH!!! God that was a pain in the ass. Why can't they mount the damn thing on top like they do with 3800's.
lukee1982
IF you want you can extend all the wires and move it up to the cross braces and it will be out of the heat.
