Guest Eurolumina92
i'm looking into buying a new muffler and was wondering what would show the most power gain for the dollar borla, dynomax, or flowmaster. i don't want to really go with a staight through muffler scince i all ready have no cat which got rid of all back pressure i did have im leaning toward a 40 or 50 series flowmaster just to regain a little back pressure but im not sure. let me know what you guys think thanks again euro lumina92

EurosportZ34
I'm going to get Flowmaster 40's for my 3.1L. I've also heard that combo before, it's very nice! 8)

TeeJay3800
I have a 40 series on my 3.1 with no cat (just 2.5" straight pipe) and I can personally atest to the fact that it sounds damn good. 8)
TeeJay3800
I disagree. There is some added power to be had by installing a performance muffler. Stock mufflers are very restrictive, so replacing it with a much better flowing muffler will free up some HP. True, it is probably less than 5% so you won't feel it in normal daily driving. Also true, you will see far more gains with a complete cat-back system (or not using a cat at all, which is another major source for flow restriction, especially on a high-mileage converter). gp90se
Im sick of the flowmaster noise, my 3.1 was running 2 1/2 dynomax super turbos with a catco cat, throaty but raspy. borla is nice but $, I say dynomax. -Jeff

maybe2fast
Dude Dynomax, super turbos are like 40 bucks apiece and sound mean as hell, they get louder as they are used (breakin time) flows are a bill apiece! go with dynomax! J
anyone want a new exhaust from the y pipe back with turbo muffs? It was made last summer by a local exhaust shop and i decided i want it much louder than it is now because i am only driving the car on short trips and in the summer so i don't have to hear it drone all the time. Let me know. I paid about $200 so make a offer it's clean as hell never saw winter just some rain. later jay
mfewtrail
well flowmaster's aren't the best flowing muffler's get something that's a strait thru. flowmaster's aren't strait thru. If 40series original Flowmaster mufflers are adequate enough for a mustang running 12 second ET's, I think they flow plenty for any car on this board.
