TeeJay3800
Once again we'll get into a huge debate over what brand muffler to use. Again, I will say that it all depends which type of sound you like. Personally, I prefer chambered mufflers like Flowmasters (mine is 2.25" in/out). Others will say the only way to go is with straight-through designs like Magnaflow/Dynomax. You really have to listen to both and develope your own opinion. Catco makes great high-performance cats, but there are also a few other manufacturers out there. I have several sound clips of Flowmasters on 60º V6's if you want to hear them. mfewtrail
To answer your question(s), YES, that would be possible. Mufflers are mufflers, you can pretty much use any muffler your heart desires. Be sure to choose a muffler inlet/outlet close to the stock piping for easiest replacement. GPRACER
Anyone ever try Supertrapp mufflers? They are small and tuneable, should be fairly easy to install.

I wouldn't put those on my car, they're pretty damn ugly..I'll leave those for the older hotrods.
