Spcboyd1 Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 My car is a 94 grand prix 3100 I was having rough idle and hesitation at speed. So i was going to change my crankshaft sensor. I also figured since i had to pull the damper id just change the timing chain too since my car has 170000 miles on it. Everything came off fine but the problem is that you are suppose to align the camshaft gear and crankshaft gear. I obviousley did somthing wrong because when i thought i had everything alingned i put the chain and gear back on and the chain and gear locked up in one and a half revolutions. If any one can give me some help as to how to align the two gears so they work right that would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Robby1870 Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 There should be a mark on each gear and the mark should be on top when they are aligned. Did you re-use your old gears? Quote
