regalized Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 i have a 91 buick regal 3.1 the metal connector that goes from just below the temp sensor brok off leaving threads inside the motor, need help on trying to figure out how to get them out, i tried an ease out, no luck, the car has 257,000 miles on it still runs tip top, but cannot drive because of coolant leak...thanks Quote
Robby1870 Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 Mine did the same thing and I got it out with an ease out. I had to pound the ease out in the hole then slowly turn on it and finally it came out. Mine also happened in the summer when things are warmer. Thats the only way I know to get it out without taking the lower manifold off. Just keep trying Quote
cmo1234 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 I am looking forward to that similar project this weekend. Not sure what is leaking down there but I am going to take it apart and see. What exactly is an ease out incase i have to use it. Although, I am also considering replacing the lower intake gasket as well while Im at it since i have a new one laying around. Quote
Robby1870 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 An ease out is a tool that is normally used to get a stripped or broken screws out. You hammer it in the top of the screw and the the "teeth" on it will grab and you turn the ease out and hopefully the screw comes with it. In the case of the quick connect fitting you need the biggest 4-Point ease out you can find and put it inside fitting and turn. Quote
95 3-4 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 yes a nice sharp 4 point ez-e out is what you need, napa has them, commonly used on broke off spark plugs Quote
Robby1870 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Also, I'd like to add that Advance Autoparts sells a new quick connect fitting not made of pot-metal like that stock piece. The new piece is actual metal and made because the pot-metal ones broke so much. Cost me around $9 Quote
GPRACER Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 small hammer, small chisel, very sharp. cut and pry the fitting out, done it lots of times. Quote
