Intlcutlass Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 You know how coilovers are undesirable cause the top of the towers are not beefy enough? (not saying some of you have had no problems, and are working perfectly fine)..... You know how the leaf spring woulf need to be custom made and would be a little on the pricey side for some of us? I wonder if this site would aid in the coil-over debate: http://www.colemanracing.com/prodex/cat.htp?cat=SUSPENSION Note that there are leaf spring coil over plates that can be bought..... Anyone have any input on this..... Shawn....have you seen this site before? I wonder if any of this stuff would work? Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 After looking at the front strut towers, I think the tops of the rear strut towers are plenty beefy enough. The tops of the front strut towers are primarily 1/8" steel as well. It's the sides and where the top attaches to the unibody that I would worry about, but I think general consensus is it's strong enough there too. Leaf coilover plates are for metal leaf springs, I believe. I don't think they would help us any. Quote
Intlcutlass Posted January 30, 2004 Author Report Posted January 30, 2004 Just a thought....Thanks man..... Maybe for peice of mind then, another option would be to take the car to a machine shop, and have them weld in some additional steel around the tower sides???? Quote
