Short block is an actual term used in some parts of the country, and it is not an actual misnomer to say short-block. Also, there are companies that will do work needed to drop in small/short-blocks on Chevy cars. There is a small tuning company here in Ft. Wayne that will modify your car with about any GM v8 (within reason) that you want. They have done 5.7 drops in Fieros' Luminas' etc etc.. so yes, this is entirely plausible. Would take a lot a lot work and money (rwd) but it *can* be done. You can by a swap kit for a northstar V8 for the W bodied Lumina, and I believe some model year transmissions for the NS v8 could accept a 305 engine. Anyway... nice being here again.
