GrandPrix34
YeYAY! I fixed the car, not the mechanic who knew-it-all!!! The fix? A combination of 02 sensor, ECM and Coolant temperature sensor. They stole my digicam so i cannot take pcis of the fuxed up coolant temperature sensor which is somehow chipped from the corner...werd i know. Also, around the EGR area, i found the wire harness that connects to the fuel injectors, EGR, 02 sensor and the throttlebody sensors was fried. The Delco stock 02 sensor was still fuxing clean but the connector at the top was fried. So i got a BOSCH 02 sensor...yuk!! Anyone know wat might have caused the wire harness to melt?? 5speedz34
Wire was close to the exhaust manifold?
musthavemuzk
they stole your digicam? i would be pissed as hell. if memory serves me that is not tooclose to the exhaust manifold. so it could be. i would guess mayb someone careless with a trouble light. set it down to work but did not pay attention to where it was placed. mfewtrail
A lot of cars have that little wrap shit(for lack of not knowing exactly what to call it..it's not heatshrink tubing..it's like a woven material/heat wrap..for example, it's on the stock foglights on our Prix's) on those harnesses close to the exhaust manifolds, I don't recall seeing any on the o2 for my 93 last time I changed it...I worked on a 00 Buick Regal today at the shop and it had that covering on the o2 harness...maybe that's why it melted? mfewtrail
I found this when I searched for "wiring heat wrap"..on the website I found it at, they called it "fire wrap." http://www.mmrusa.com/heatshield/firewrap.jpg It's similar to that but made in tubular sections and covering the wires..I guess it could be "friction tape" as well(didn't search for that).
