maybe2fast Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Resistor in I.A.T.S. (ebay chip) does it work. They claim if you put a resistor in your intake air temp sensor plug it will trick the computer to think 32 degree air is entering the plentum advancing the timing and there fore puting more fuel in the cylinders producing more h.p. (doesn't the M.A.T. sensor correct that?) Quote

Whiskey River Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Resistor in I.A.T.S. (ebay chip) does it work. (doesn't the M.A.T. sensor correct that?) Well, they work for about the first 3 minutes or so the vehicle is running. Then the ECM switches to closed loop and the O2 cancels out any effect that resistor had. Those people that claim big gains are measuing by the ass-dyno and have no hard data to prove it. Quote
no1kicker Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 And cause their car has 77 hp to begin with, that 1/3 hp is felt. Quote
conley3.1 Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Well, even if it 'tricks' your computer into thinking its getting 32 degree air, your engine is NOT getting 32 degree air, so the computer would add more fuel to the air/fuel mixture because it 'thinks' the air is denser, and the only thing it would do is make you run rich... IAT resistors are a huge scam. Quote
Flyby736 Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 Good link about that and a few other mods... http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/info/bad_mods.htm Its mostly L67 stuff but it still applies. Quote
maybe2fast Posted January 29, 2004 Author Report Posted January 29, 2004 sorry about the sensor mix up, I have read a long time ago it was crap but I thought it would be a great thread to have on the site Quote
