That's a tough one. If I had the money for both, and I really had to choose, I'd choose Pioneer over JVC. I've used multiple models of each, and Pioneer is definitely better sounding, more feature-rich, and just better in terms of build quality and the like. I have a JVC deck in my car right now, but only because I had a Pioneer that fried and I didn't have money for a Pioneer.

Pioneer. Unless you fry it. Then JVC. :D

That JVC certainly looks more cool, but I've had really bad luck with JVC and good luck with Pioneer. Everyone I know that has bought a JVC car stereo has had it quit playing CD's in a couple years, myself included. I say go for the Pioneer.

well, looks like we have a new contestant!

I've decided I'm most likely going to go for the Pioneer DEH-P7500MP

Because the 5500 is out of stock at sound domain, and this one is only about 50or 60 bucks more, so why not splurge (i'm only a poor college student)!

well ill go with a vote against the grain.

I'd buy the JVC as i have had MANY troubles with pioneer, and while not the best in the business, the company makes solid products IMO.

I actually like Pioneer and JVC. IMO Pioneer makes very good recievers for home audio so I would bank on them making solid car audio. Just stay away from Sony CD players...overpriced POS!!!

Alpine is my current deck, but the cheap cd-r's are giving me a headache. It takes minutes for them to start playing when I initially put them in. Can someone give me some good cleaning tips for cd players.

If I had to pick between Pioneer and JVC, I'd go with Pioneer. I've had a few Pioneer decks and they all had good sound. The JVC may look cooler but that don't make a good SOUND system. I would buy an Eclipse before either though, my Eclipse is way better then any other deck I have had. Stay away from AWIA, me and 2 friends got decks at the same time. My sister got one (different model) a few months later. Mine was surging the power to the speakers and blew 3 sets of 6x9's, one of my friend's the deck amp went out in, and the other friend and my sister's stopped playing CD's. My AWIA home stereo stopped playing CD's too. Not good...
