will Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 i did a swap my looking for the down pipe for a 3.4 dohc the pipe from the motor to the cat so i can get my exhaust done i found a catalytic converter new for a 93-95 3.4 dohc does anyone know if this will fit my 96 ? i found it for $150 anyone got any idears and not the junk yard tried it Quote
cutsup1996 Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 I think it will not. Anyways the converters pre-96 won't work on a 96 or newer because of the OBDII. You could try it but I can almost guarantee that something will not work out properly with it, either getting it to fit or throwing codes and not passing emissions. Quote
mfewtrail Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 So, you swapped out a 3100 for a 3.4? What year 3.4 did you use along with what year computer? If the 3.4 is pre-OBDII, any old catalytic converter will work..but if not, get a universal(carsound) cat for an OBDII application..they're cheaper than the $150 you mentioned as well. Found you a random link..just scroll down to find the appropriate cat you need. http://www.discountconverter.com/universals/ Quote
RedZMonte Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Use a universal cat. carsound/magnaflow are the ones to get. usually looking at $150 or less installed. Shane Quote
joey b Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 I have a 92. The downpipe didn't fit exactly to the 97 engine I have but it is rather quiet. If I put a metal donut gasket in there, it would be even better, but I haven't had any problems yet. I don't know exactly what you have, maybe stating so in your sig would help Quote
