kcac
When you disconnect the battery on a 1995 Cutlass (e 3.4 L engine), how do you remove the cable going to the positive terminal? It looks like it has a "cap" of some sort with two small red wires coming off of it. I started prying on it, but it's 15 degrees farenheit here today, and I was worried the plastic piece would be brittle from the cold and break. That and I had forgotten to bring an extension to get the bottom battery clamp bolt loose, so it wasn't worth pushing it since I couldn't get the battery out anyway. mihela816
The cap is just there to keep the positive terminal from grounding out. Just pull it off and there should be a terminal just like the negative, 8mm wrench/socket/whatever
kcac
Thanks mihela816 By the way, what if you need a jump or have to give on to someone else. Is there an alternaive place to connect the positive jumper cable since the battery is so buried in that car?
GP1138
There should be another positive terminal, up by the driver's side strut cap, right next to the fuel pump fuse and relay. Just pull the cap off of it, and clip your jumper cable to it, and then I clip the negative to the right bay brace. YMMV
