TeeJay3800
I've been noticing a little valve train noise after a cold start the past few days. (sounds like lifters but I could be wrong) It happens when the car hasn't been driven for a day. It'll make the noise for 30 secs. to 2 mins. I know that 3100/3400's have a quirk like this all the time, but my 3.1 has never done this before; even when its sat for 2 weeks in sub-20 degree weather. Oil level is fine even though its due for a change. Should I be worried that this recently started?
cutsup1996
I honestly wouldn't be worried, the car is getting older and winters get rougher for it. If it gets worse or doesn't sound better in the summer then maybe see about having the valves adjusted. See what happens after a fresh oil change, prolly nothing really just age and miles and the famed 3.1/3100
Robby1870
Completely Normal!
TeeJay3800
I'd like to think it is normal, but it didn't do it until just recently. Thats what makes me think something is up.
Robby1870
Its the cold weather and the fact that you said you let it sit for a day and then it does this. The lifters need to time get the right amount of oil to them to not click. Usually about 30 secs or so
