Transmision Overdrive problem

WhiteOut

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I had my transmission rebuilt around August of last year. It was a total rebuild, new planetary gear set, new valves, new cluthes, new Torque Converter, etc...

Lately I've been noticing that around 70-75 and 45mph if you take your foot off the gas to decelerate the tachometer will jump up and down like the car is shifting in between 3rd and 4th gears (usually about a 400 rpm differance) and can't decide which one it wants to be in. This is accompanied by a slight shudder in the car each time it jumps up or down, and is especially apparent when the car has been running for half an hour or more. It looks to me like a transmission problem, my 90' Toronado with the 4T60 had a similar problem before it blew its transmission, but it wasn't electronically controled and I was told that it was a valve problem inherrant to the transmission on that car (fluid pressure was just so at these speeds that the valve would open and close indescriminantly), so what would cause a similar problem with this car?

I want to get it fixed before my warranty runs out, and the transmission place thinks I'm nuts because they can't get it to reproduce since they cannot get the problem to reproduce.

Speed Sensor huh? Is that the same sensor that controls the ABS system? Because I've had issues with my ABS as well where the light will come on occasionally after going over a rough surface, or for no apparent reason at all.
