LukeZ34
I remember someone on here mentioning that they bought a rebuilt kit for the T-25 on ebay, and it worked out great.
tgpguy21
Well Turbochargers.com says theyll do it for $275 if you dont need any additional parts other than what they have listed. If your not happy when they give you the quote theyll pay for shipping back to you. $275 doesnt seem like a whole lot does it? better than 500 + for a new one. Thanks for the info on this site i appreciate it dkorinko.
dkorinko
No problem, let me know if u end up using them because if i cant afford a new turbo, i really need a rebuild, i believe mine is doing the same thing urs is...cycling oil. Keep us, or atleast me, updated! thanks.
Jeff M
Before we hear back your turbine housing is cracked and they say needs repair/replacement, don’t worry about it. I have heard of and seen dozens of these T25s with cracks in the turbine housing starting at the wastegate flapper hole, long enough cracks to make you think it would fall apart, but no one yet has had any problems. As for a little exhaust leakage there, no issue either since the wastegate actuator spring relieves more exhaust even when told to be shut then the cracks will leak. Only other part that may be needed other than the rebuild parts are those items you can check yourself by inspecting the turbine wheel for damage (most common of these 2) or the compressor wheel for damage, may be some contact to the compressor housing when the bearings get worn. That should be it for most items on these turbos, good luck, and it was not that long ago some talk all about this , and the web site of this Message Board's owner/Shawn Lin has a list of turbo rebuild companies, and a lot of other helpful info 8) . tgpguy21
thanks for the info jeff. im sure that probably would have been one of the things they would have told me was wrong with the turbo and i probably would have just bought a new one. But if they tell me that ill probably still try their rebuild. thanks again.
R Dubya
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46098&item=2454112969 This is the kit needed to rebuild the turbos. I was told it is a PITA to separate the housings, and you should be sure to mark them to keep them balanced. I haven't done it myself but I plan on it soon, possibly this spring. RedZMonte
I don't recommend rebuilding it yourself. you need to have it ballanced. check out "http://www.cheapturbo.com" RedZ
tgpguy21
yeah im going to send mine into turbochargers.com and just have them rebuild it for $275, as long as if there is a crack in the turbine housing and they say it will not void any type of warranty. When we took the turbo off of the 2 door TGP and had it rebuilt, there were no visible cracks anywhere that I could see on it. Shawn

Then, the place that rebuilt it also cleaned it off. And I didn't see any cracks or anything after it came back either. It may have had them, but I sure as hell couldn't find them.
