EurosportZ34
Does anyone know of some spark plugs and wires that add some performance? I'm thinking of going with AC Delco, but is there something out there that is better but also not too harsh on the cash flow??
gp90se
Which motor? what type of gas do you run and how hard do you run your motor? -Jeff
EurosportZ34
Sorry... It's for my 3.4, which I run Mid-grade gas (89oct). And I would guess I run it normal, I don't do too much yet, other then for my daily driver. But I want to make it fast enuf (when I'm done) to beat a stock 3.4 and motors with similar HP. gp90se
Id run either rapidfire or (much more $) denso iritium plugs. I dont like platinum, they wear out quickly. For wires, It it isnt delco, it dont go on my cars, unless there like 9mm. -Jeff
joey b
rapid fire #8's.
EurosportZ34
UPDATE: Ok, I finally checked with the auto parts places around my area and none of them can order AC Delco RapidFire sparkplugs for my 3.4L, they said there suppliers won't allow them to. Also they said that MSD Ignition doesn't make a wire set for the 3.4L. Are these peeps on crack or what's up with these plugs and wires? cutlsp
i like the split fire spark plugs they have lasted in my dad's delta 88 for about 5 years and it still runs like they were just put in  i say go with split fire spark plugs they seem a lot better then the rapid fire spark plugs. as for wires you gotta look only for them. also i put some in my 2.8 and its running a lot stronger then it did a bout a year ago and its still running like i just put them in
DOHCRagtopguy
That is strange. Why don't you use the stock Delco wires and Rapidfires and order them thru GM Parts Direct? That's what I did and the cars run great! Around here, Advance Auto Parts and Pep Boys all carry AC Rapidfires, maybe the help up there IS on crack! GrandPrix34
i have a set of BOSCH wires that leak current! :-D Try either Magnecor, AC Delco's or custom make yours from MSD bulk wire. For plugs try http://www.rockauto.com and search for you car and spark plugs...they have the NGK G Power platinum (???) NGK V Power and the AC Delco Rapidfires Also, rsmracing.com has AC Delco wires for about $49.99 and the AC delco plugs for about 4 buxs each...check it out: http://www.rsmracing.com DIS Ignition System - Longer and hotter spark for increased performance and better fuel economy. Individual MSD performance coils ($49.99), AC Delco performance wires ($59.99) and Rapidfire and Rapidfire Platinum plugs also available
Zoomina34
Ive also been having trouble finding Rapidfires. one place told me they were discontinued and a couple others said they dont stock them and cant order them. When you say Rapidfire 8's , is the 8 the part number or the heat range? Also does anyone know thread size, tapered or not? If i cant find them i think i'll try those V Powers. They were like the only ones to have my 12's and I think I got em for under 6 a piece. I'll check maybe friday or early next week and let ya know. Zoomina34
I dont need time! I read the post, but i might have a hard time ordering form them without a credit card, you think?
EurosportZ34
I just bought some AC Delco RapidFire spark plugs from a Pontiac dealership and bought some MSD Ignition 8.5mm Super Conductor spark plug wires from Autozone. They aren't a custoem fit :? but I'm going to have to fit them to my car. Thanks for all the info guys, I'll let you know when I'm all complete. EurosportZ34
Alright, well I got the spark plugs in but the MSD wires will not work at all they are too small. I called AC Delco about getting some custom 8mm wires which might be an option, but I'm now also thinking about Magnecor wires. :?
optimusprime
I put a set of Crane Firewires on my Buick and have been pretty happy with them. I'd rather have a set-of plug wires that I put together myself then a set of pre cut wires. They never seem to get the length right. I've also hear that Taylor wires where pretty good too. I'm not too sure if they make a boot for the DOHC though.
EurosportZ34
The boot is too small compared to the stock boot. Anyways I just ordered some 8.5mm Mangecor wires. I can't wait until them come in!!
EurosportZ34
The boot at the end of the wire was too small
joey b
I see you bought rapid fire #12's. Why not 8's?
EurosportZ34
Because the 8s weren't available and the 12s were.
93CutlassSupreme
what number rapidfire do you use with a 93 3.1? my owners manual only lists the standard plug number, acdelco.com lists rapidfire #6 as being the right plug, but someone here was refering to rapidfires #8 as being the right plug what number is it?
