Black90Euro
Hey , I need some help . My Lumina Breaks SUCK big time always have , I had a SUV pull out in front of me going 45mph and I hit the breaks it slowed down but did not stop, if it weren't for her moving I would have hit her.. bam.. they slowed me down but got to a point they just rolled on without coming to a stop. I was wonder if I got some drilled/slotted rotors for the front and some Good pads will that help? I have Performance Friction Pads now if they get Hot there ok ... but I want to be able to stop anytime not just after I've warmed them up. Any Suggestions \ Comments would be great .. Thanks Mark
93CutlassSupreme
my brakes suck ass too, i don't know if you have read any other posts my me, but ever since i've driven this car i have had almost constant brake pedal vibration, after 2 sets of pads and rotors. after like 500 miles are put on the new brakes, the shaking starts! anyway, my bosch brakes act the same, no power until they are warm, and then once you are going really slow, they just give up and you really have to mash the pedal i really don't know, maybe stock ac delco pads would help, they are softer and therefore would grab the rotor better than aftermarket 'lifetime' pads. i might try that once i have enough money. being poor blows! :guns: our brakes
SigEpCutlass
i have the problem with vibration...even when there were ac delco pads on here when i first got the car @ 45,000miles . My rotors are about shot and it's on my to do list to change them this spring. You do have the older style of the brakes. I know in '94 they were changed to avoid warping and i believe i may have larger discs.
Intimidatorz34
http://www.partsamerica.com Wearever rotors are 15 bucks each, 13 i think for rear, pads are 27 bucks.......warrantys on each. Rotors should be good for a year, lifetime on the pads.
95 3-4
I just put middle of the road price napa pads on they were above the tru stops they sell maybe called sever duty they were $35 with lifetime warranty and the stopping power is better than the old pads, stopping power is good and dont really fade and the rotors dont seem to feel warped after a few hard stops like the old ones did the rotors were $27 at napa lifetime warranty I wanted the napa ceramix pads since their supposably black brake dust free and offer superior stopping power and wear resistance, but they didnt have in stock and they were $75
GRANDFURY
Is there a bigger brake booster from antoher car that we could put in ours?

I do agree they have more stopping power than the ACdelco ones that were on there before. I was going to buy the ceramic pads, however i was advised against it by someone on gmforums. I was told by him that they don't work well unless you have slotted or cross-drilled rotors. I don't know if this is true in all applications though. PaPaPooh
I had my car vibrate when braking, however I just replaced my pass. side balljoint and now its fine. Thought I might have needed to get the rotors done but they are ok (I've had the car for 4 years and never done anything to the rotors). Another good idea would be to get a torque wrench to avoid over tightening your lugnuts and having the same tightness on each nut cause that can cause your rotors to warp (or so I hear). yes over tight or uneven torque will cause that
Thabulldog
I used to have the cheapy pads, Satisfied. No, I wasn't satisfied, it was either don't stop or lock in the rain, and barely stop when it was dry. I recently put on Bendix Lifetime pads, 55 bucks, money well spent. Saved my ass today from eating the rear end of an Acura that stopped short. I woulda slid into him if I had the old pads. These Bendix pads stop beautifully. 93CutlassSupreme
i don't think there are any napa stores around my place...... about ceramic pads, i don't notice any difference between bosch semi metallic pads and bosch ceramic pads......they both SUCK my bosch rotors have 5 year warranties......so if they are warped........ has anyone returned warrantied rotors? do they just refinish the rotor, or do you get new ones? the parts store where i got mine said with the recept they will refinish the rotors. This is probably the most important thing with brake rotors. Around here, winter kills rotors, salt and corrosion, sucks.

EurosportZ34
I've noticed the same damn problem with my Z34, she just doesn't want to stop when she is 'cold.' :| I can't even remember how many times I almost tapped someone cause she doesn't stop, instead she slows down gently. Does anyone without a Lumina have this problem??

Sup bRad, Well I have tried to warm them up the past 2 days by riding the break pedal for a block or two seems to help a little but I'll prolly try some new pads , once I figure out the ones to get ( waiting to see what pads Thabulldog has) the 'MKD or RPB-376' bendix pads ...
