93CutlassSupreme
Oldsmobile production ends in 2004, right? does anyone know when the dealers are closing? once they are closed, where are Oldsmobile owners going to get service and replacement parts not sold at auto parts stores? Chevrolet dealers? i have been to a few Chevrolet dealers in the metro Detroit area looking for parts that i couldn't get at local auto parts stores, and have been told to go to an Oldsmobile dealer, so i was just wondering where to get replacement parts when Oldsmobile closes down. 94SLSDOHCUTT94
All the olds dealerships are closed around here, well at least all of their service dept's are all closed. I called one just last week to see If the recalls on my car had been done and they couldn't help me at all......they told me from now on whenever I need any service done or anything to just go to any GM and they'll handle anything I needed. I think it's shitty as hell that Olds is gone, I mean they had such a good thing going on for so long, I just dont get it.
Justin
There can't be many strictly Olds dealers around, up here it's Chev. Olds. Buick, or Chev. Toyota. Buick, or whatever.
NORBI
Where i live there are 4 Olds dealers but they are usually Cadillac Oldsmobile dealer but strictly Oldsmobile dealers are already closed. When i bought my Aurora 3 months ago Oldsmobile directed me to go only to Cadillac dealers becasue they are the only ones trained on Auroras, and with my girlfriends Alero she bought 2 months ago they directed her to any GM Chevy dealer. Steve LS
" OLDSMOBILE backed by GM " Yea right, Olds got pushed on their knees and GM jumped on their back. Wagner sucks ! Saturn sucks ! Downsizing my ass ! they stomped Olds and passed around the scraps. Then expanded all the other car lines, except Buick. Buicks next - my personal prediction Go to a Olds/Caddy dealer, like said above. Some of the former Olds/Caddy dealers around here have added Pontiac to replace Olds. Our LSS is now 7 yrs old which is all the reason GM needs to make sure we cant get model specific parts for it. Fortunately most of the drivetrain is common. Its the odds and ends like interior pieces and weatherstripping when they get older that becomes the problem.
PJB
The local Olds dealer also took on Pontiac a few years ago. Now its Olds, Cadilliac, Pontiac, Isuzu and Hummer. At work we order any GM parts from a Chevy dealer just like we order all Chrysler parts from a Dodge dealer.
93CutlassSupreme
ok it looks like the local Chevrolet dealers have been giving me a bunch of BS oh well
godofthunder
the olds dealer here actually just opened up a new Chevy dealership to attack the most popular one. They actually havent said anything yet about closing up the Olds one. Its used also as a susuki dealer, so the only olds out front is like a Shilioute. I am kinda currious though, if anything specail is going to go on with the close of the actual Olds dealer though...like if they will invite all current Olds owners for a party (some of the dealers arround here have done that to celebrate new cars, or special events like the recent meet at the Chevy dealership on the way to the 50th corvete aniv.) jon
95 3-4
Not GM related but I think Mercury will be dead b4 Buick, I think the Rainer could breathe a small amount of life back into Buick, not sure, buick has a few good sellers but I think the perception is that Buicks are old people cars same as Merc
cutlassdude96
Buick is also getting a minivan

93CutlassSupreme
it doesn't seem to me that buick is going out buick is expanding their lineup i think buick is partially the reason for olds going out buick was going down in the market by selling tons of century's, and oldsmobile was trying to go upmarket with the auroa, and they were competing with eachother just my opinion i find it funny that gm dumped billions into saturn, which makes $12,000 cars with low profit margins, while they killed oldsmobile, which made $20,000 plus cars with much higher profit margins oh well, no one ever said the world makes sense

SigEpCutlass
i do agree with the buick theory...sad isn't it! i can say that there's one local olds dealership and i don't go there anymore! They did a absolutely shitty job servicing my car. I mentioned this story back on the old GM forums...so if you heard it before...bear with me In June (2003) i took my cutty to Fitzgerald Oldsmobile (Gaithersburg, MD) to have my transmission flushed and to figure out what the wierd noise was coming from my car. That weird noise was later helped to be diagnosed as the dogbones being shot (thx gmforums!). Anyway, they decided to wash my car as some suppossed courtesy. It was dirty and I was going to handwash it when it got home from there and detail the interior. I go out to my car after paying and HOLY SHIT! There's over a dozen scratches on my hood, roof, and trunk. Straight lines...obviously from the car wash. I go in irate and demand that the scratches be removed. The manager isn't around so the people behind the counter gave me a it's not our fault shit. I come back the next day and flat out demand that they attempt to remove the scratches or I'm taking them to court for the cost of repairing the paint job. The manager gave in and fixed it, only after I said the word lawsuit. Whatever they used to get out scratches has led to 2 bubbles on the roof of my car, that have since then cracked. Yes the clear coat cracked Granted I didn't own the car for the first 8 years, but since I got it, my cutty's been waxed atleast 2 times a year. Plus, I've made sure a double coat goes on the hood, roof, and trunk, since my car can't go in the garage at home, and sits in the lot @ school. Needless to say, it's infuriated me to see that and I know that those ignorant f*cks are in some way responsible for that. Now I've gotta possibly persue fixing the clearcoat on my roof Now that's gonna be expensive! The moral of the story is: Fitzgerald Olds in Gaithersburg, MD is a horrible dealership. I don't go there anymore at all. I go to a dealership that is recognized nation wide...Criswell Chevy. If you subscribe to Car & Driver, they are Corvette Specialists and have an add in the back of every issue. The also sell Lotus, Lamborgini, and Hummer. Needless to say, i've been nothing but pleased with the service they've done on my car, the 2 times it's been there. 8) It's a great dealership. I've also since ordered all my parts from there, with no problems finding them. I highly reccomend if you live near me that you go there.
