supreme_style21
if so where is the plug? i need to know this AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!! THANK YOU!!!! Getting ready for the 50 below temps tonite? Usually if its been installed, the cord is tucked down in the pass. side of the engine compartment.. up by the headlights, wrapped up around by the radiator, somewhere. Depends on where the previous owner put it.
Justin
Lots of people, on W-bodies anyway, put the block heater in the lower rad. hose. Check there, also check for any extension cord looking wires snaking around the trans bellhousing, around the headlights, rad, like s-style wrote. There's no set position. phantomFE3
there is none, i checked, i bought one but it says you have to drain the coolant, pretty gay, ill just jumpstart it in the morning and keep a set of jumper cables in the trunk and hope for the best, untill i can get the car in the shop and get the coolant drained and shit, i wish i lived in cali
supreme_style21
You shouldn't need to jump it unless your battery is crap. Just keep it out of the wind tonight and you should be fine. Got a shed or garage you can park it in?
Guest TurboSedan
the factory block heater goes to one of the rear freeze plugs, that is why you need to drain the coolant. i've seen some block heaters that are just big magnets that you stick on the oil pan and plug 'em in.... joshua

supreme_style21
is there any way that my car has a factory block heater? Depends if it was ordered at the factory.. the option was there, yes.
Dan94Z34
block heater keeps the oil from turning to goo. Makes it easier to start plus less ware on the engine, since the oil gets around quicker.

supreme_style21
the factory block heater goes to one of the rear freeze plugs I believe the RPO code was K05.. and for some reason, it shows a delete option for the CORD? kfahn
thanks, I wasn't sure whether that was just for some years, and not for others, or what

5speedz34
Ok, well is there any reason why it would be better to have on the coolant instead of the oil?
phantomFE3
heating the coolant is like having a warm engine, everything is warmed up, all the springs and rings and all that stuff as well as the oil
5speedz34
So the coolant set-up is alot better?
