Dannymik
My emergency brake is not working properly. When I push down on it, it takes tons of effort and it won't set/ lock into place. I do hear it grab the rear rotors and I can actually feel a slight jerk when it does. Last year when I was replacing my "rear" pads, rotors, and calipers I noticed that the e-brake cable on the drivers side was compressing the caliper a little without even pressing the brake pedal. I figured that it had some maintenace done to it before I bought the car and the cable was a little small causing the caliper to do this. Since my rear brakes were all new I disconnected the e-brake cable til I wore down the rotors and pads. I left it like that for about 2-3 months and reconnected it. The idiotic part of it was that I didn't test it immediately right after (figuring everything would be ok). Now that I have been playing around with it I'm getting the above symptoms. I sprayed some stuff(pb booster or whatever it is called) on the cable right under the drivers seat area with no results. My neighbor told me the cable is frozen because I left it disconnected for too long. Is there anything else I can do to check if it is frozen? thanks
Dannymik
Yeah there is a bolt on the cable to adjust it on the drivers side (under the drivers seat area) and if its not rusted to hell then you should be able to adjust it. The one on my car is severly rusted (frozen if thats what you want to call it) so you might need new cable. Thats where I was spraying that shit. It wasn't that rusted if I recall, I'll have to go outside in the rain and mess around with it.
