Shinisa
Well lately my engine service light has been going on, but after i shut off the car and come back to it a half an hour or so later it' wont come back on when i start it up again. This has been going on for about a month now, so my question is should I have it checked by a mechanic or sorta just pray to god the lights just messing with me? Slade901
Check your oil fluid level and fill it to the max level.
Redfox340
This has been going on for about a month now, so my question is should I have it checked by a mechanic or sorta just pray to god the lights just messing with me? The Service Engine Light (SES) is letting you, the user, know that the ECM has dectected something in the powertrain that doesn't match factory values. I wouldn't waste anymore time to figure out what the problem is. Like Canadian Badass asked, what is the year, make, and model of the car? From there we can give you helpful pointers to diagnosis, locate, and fix the problem yourself (if not too big of an issue). Get back to us and we'll guide you through it! - Erik
supreme_style21
If your car is 1988-1995 (I think) that has the OBD1 ECM (I have no idea if the newer ECMs are different) which I know how to use the paperclip in the connector under the dash (very simple, explain later) and find the code. Its very easy don't bring it to a mechanic. The '94-'95? GP's had OBDI.. but the paperclip method doesn't work.. its that stupid OBD 1.5 system. joey b
wouldn't be surprised if it is code 32. The cold weather causes my car to throw that code often. I ignore it. Who needs EGR anyway?

Head to a local AutoZone and have them scan the codes since you can't do it @ home. From there, pick up a service manual or re-post here and we'll get you going on the repair! - Erik
SmokesGTP
The local autozone doesn't have the hook - up for a hybrid OBD system, or at least none around me did. You have to go to the dealer and pay 35 bucks.
