Alright here's my situation. When we get taxes back this year mine is going towards a TGP. The one im looking at is in Arizona so i wont go to look at it till i get my taxes back. so i called the guy and he says body and interior are almost perfect. The ABS he says has gone out and i believe thats because the x over pipe is cracked. the car has 139,xxx on it and he says everything else is in good condition. so how much do you guys think i should offer? he was askin 3250 i think and he said he would be willing to drop the price. Thanks for the help guys.

Ummm...how could the exhaust having a leak have anything to do with a problem with the brakes??? The ABS light coming on is a VERY common problem with TGP's, and it is usually the accumulator (spelling?), its something like an $80 fix. IMO the car would have to be PERFECT to be worth $3k with that kind of miles on it. My STE has a completely perfect interior in it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, no stains or rips or anything, and the body is almost perfect with the exception of some rust starting to form on the fenders (hasn't popped through yet, it is just bubbling the paint right now), it had 98k on it when I bought it, and the STE's are more rare than the coupes, and my STE was only $1800. Our Coupe was only $1500 and the interior in that is mint except for a cracked DIC, and the outside is almost perfect except for some clearcoat peeling off the bumpers & hood louvers, and it had 103k on it when we bought it. Now I know I got a good deal on mine, but as I have said to many others before, I don't think the car is worth that much because they are available cheaper if you look a little. Now it sounds like a nice car, and probably is, and if it is worth the money to you, then buy it. The car is only worth what you think it is worth to you, so if you think its worth $3k, then what does it matter what anyone else thinks, pay $3k for it.

hey hey hey i am in Arizona and i would like to see this thing! where is it located at??? If its a black one in phoenix then i think i know the one u are talking about! I agree with everyone else, that price is way to high, try like 2500 or something like that, and if he doesnt want to deal make sure he knows how much a new crossover pipe is.

A used-car dealer here in Idaho Falls, ID, has a 1989 TGP for sale. He's had the car on his lot for months. I think he wanted $1,695 back in September, but would probably take less now. The car needs some work, though. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow for anyone interested. Hopefully, the dealer has cleared off all the damn snow we've got since Christmas!!!

I took four pictures of the car, but don't know how to post them here. I would be willing to send them to someone and have them post the pics. I called the dealer and he said the car "shows" 89,000 miles on the odometer and it runs good. The interior looks rough, so I doubt 89,000 miles is accurate. The body is in really sweet shape for the age. It has leather and a sunroof. The are asking $1,500 for it, but it's been on the lot for months so I bet they would take less. He said the motor has been tuned up, but I noticed some smoke residue on the hood and in the driver's side hood vent. Something exciting may have happened under the hood at one point! The phone number of the lot is (208) 522-9844 (Dick Sayer's Used Cars). It is located in Idaho Falls, ID.

It doesnt look bad, they need to give us some interior shots though! The lower valance is only like 150 bucks right? so that wouldnt be to bad to replace, if i had the money, id get it.

TGPGUY21 contacted me and may be interested in buying the car. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow and give everyone a report. Without snow tires, the drive may be quite exciting. The pics turned out great! Thanks for posting them. I'd like to see this car find a new home. It will need some work, but we all know TGPs are worth the time and money. I still get asked about my '90 all the time from drivers who ask: "What kind of car IS that!?"

I have one interior pic. I'm going to send it to someone on the forum who offered to post the pics and hopefully he'll upload it.

Someone enquired about the smoke residue on the hood and hood vent. Not sure what could have caused that; it could be many different things. (1) oil leaking on the crossover and burning, (2) a bad crossover that results in exhaust being discharged under the hood, (3) a one-time fire under the hood (yikes!).

As I mentioned before, the dealer is asking $1,500, but I'll bet will take less since he's had the car for months. If it were me, I'd offer him $1,000 and go from there. With that said, I can assure folks it will need some TLC.
