hoodilio Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 It seems as though my e-brake is not totally setting itself, even when i pump the hell out of it, i just replace the rear pads, and one of the calipers. Anyone got any ideas, could the e-brake cable be warn out, any adjustments i should make or what? Quote
scorpion_x9 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Sounds like the problem I had after replacing my rear brakes. Check out my reply on this post: http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11020 Quote

LukeZ34 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I need to try that.. Shouldn't the BRAKE light come on when the park brake is set? Is it different in cars with the Powermaster III? Quote
BurneroftheRice Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 not to sound like an idiot, and not to hijack the thread, but does the lumina have an e-brake light? i have never seen it come on when i put the ebrake on, and im sure the ebrake works because sometimes i have forgotten it is on what without the light...any other lumina people wanna help? Luke, I believe the TGP's do have the parking "brake" light. My dad's e-brake is "freewheeling" as Shawn's info suggests on the e-brake page..I gotta take a look at that/fix it Quote
DOHCRagtopguy Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Wife's Lumina Euro Sedan has a brake light that is lit when the e-brake is engaged. Went thru the whole rear brake bullshit when we first bought it. Ended up overhauling ALL of the brakes. Now I just lube the sliders really well whenever I put pads on and haven't had a problem since. Quote
LukeZ34 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I oiled my parking brake this afternoon, and it works like a champ again. I found the ground switch for the 'BRAKE' light, and I noticed that it was a little dirty. So I cleaned it off, and the light works, but the brake isn't releasing enough to trigger the light on or off. Is the adjustment nut under the drivers side door where I need to adjust the brake to get it to release fully? Quote

Both of my Z-34 Lumina's have brake light that comes on when e-brake is applied. Quote
