fuel shuts off while in gear

OK so i will be driving me car, and in either 1st or 2nd gear right around 4300-4500 rpms, the car loses all power and the tach starts jumping back and forth around 4000, kind of like when the car is in neutral. This is only when i have it at WOT and it doesn't do it all the time, but is annoying as all hell, and i hate it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know, and if you don't understand what is wrong yet, let me know and i will try to explain it to you some more. Thanks

Nick

the things is, the tranny is in good shape, granted the fact that in 104,000 miles i haven't changed the fluid. Isn't it bad to change it now? Wont the new fluid mess up the internal parts?

104K miles? Eek! What were you thinking?

No, it's not bad to change it now unless the color of the tranny fluid is severely dark.

If you having slippage or disengagement, the fluid is roasted and needs to be replaced.

Old fluid doesn't help out effective power transfer, wear + tear, or prolongs the tranny life.

To 'lessen' the blow of brand new tranny fluid, drop the pan and change the transmission filter.

Add in new fluid to the proper level and drive around for a week.

Once that week has passed, to a complete torque flush through the entire tranny.
