GrandPrix34
Well after about half a year of antagonzing pain of not having my car's full potential unleashed...i decided to retime the bitch myself... Check this out, this is MY PERSONAL BEST mechanical victory... -Retimed wit NO cam hold down tool or NO sprocket puller (busted my right hand trying to pull the damn cam gear...ill take pics of all the cuts and bruises i sustained when my hand slipped and smacked the lower engine brace.. -Did not remove powersteering pump or lines...That in itself made the job more difficult. I think i broke a braket holding one of the lines at the very bottom near the alternator cuz i saw the line moving around. No leaks though. All i did was set the front cams flat wit a flat piece of metal then manually turned the gears wit a breaker bar and a 15mm socket...this was a pain in the ass cuz the camshaft returned itself to its original position at certain points. I'm guessing this is wat would happen if the timing belt broke...the camshaft realigned itself...it looked pretty badass Final result? AWESOME POWERBAND! The car feels freaking lightweight. Growls like it used to...wow... I am gonna get a sprocket puller cuz i will never again retime this car this way. It just worked!

GrandPrix34
thanks man! No grinding no horrible shake/rattle no more devil in my engine...the problem was that both mechanics i dealt with realigned the cams wit all 4 cam flats up. The engine still ran, the powerband was wierd (lots of low end, hit a wall between 3-4Krpms then took off again). And of course the other symptoms that you guys had to put up wit me posting  I tried taking a vid and getting a gtech measurement but damn Border Patrol pulled me over! See, the street that is famous here since way way back till now is called 5 - 11, or Hwy 511. An old drag strip pretty long for street racing wit enough room at the end of the 1/4 to slow down safetly and turn around. SO yeah, one Ford Explorer pulled infront of me and another behind me wit the huge lights. The strip is very close to the river so i guess it was suspicious of me stopping in the middle of no were and flooring it . I did 1 gtech run as a base....15.72@92mph. The MPH was accurate cuz thats wat it read on the dash but the time seems werd.
Robby1870
Doesnt it feel good to do something yourself and do better than a mechanic! Never go to a mechanic again, you 0wn the DOHC. Yeah, that ET sounds a little slow, but the MPH are right
