darklotus42 Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 Yeah so I wanna get whatever I can off it to upgrade my 95 CS. I know the rear sway bar right, what about the brakes, knuckles? Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 Front knuckles, front rotors. Front sway bar should be bigger if your CS is a 3100. Probably the same if your CS is a 3.4 DOHC. Quote
rich_e777 Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 You need to pull the link to frame brackets for that rear sway bar as well! Ive not had much luck getting these off without getting some WD-40 inside the boxed area these bolts are ran into. I have one for my car as well and would recommend some new 2nd gen adjustable lateral links to go with the larger bar. You`ll have to get one pair cut and re threaded to fit on your car but nearly any machining or metal shop can do it. Heres another thing Ive found, if your car doesnt have a rear sway bar from factory then there is not any threaded inserts to just bolt these brackets up. My `94 Cutlass only has a diamond shaped indicator hole and a punch mark into the boxed section the 2 horizontal bolts go, but there is a 3rd bolt that goes straight up that I dont have anything for. Ive not dug into where I might drill for that one but with luck its accessible in the trunk to rear seat area. Having driven my Cutlass for so long its really a matter of going to at least rear coil overs to make the biggest difference in handling. I like how the front handles with the larger sway bar and tower brace, the poly bushings have held up great over the nearly 15 years and 20-30k miles since the the install. The rear starts to make a weird twerking shimmy motion taking a corner at around 50-55ish mph. To me it feels like the leaf spring attempting to bend laterally but instead popping in and out of the little nook the tips sit in. To prevent this I just drive it like a regular old car in the rare cases I do get it out on the road. I spent too much time looking for collision repair parts to risk them again. LMAO! Anyone have thoughts on that rack and pinion being a lower ratio option? Quote

Search the rack on an earlier year GTP or GT with the LQ1 powertrain, the *fast* rack is a 2.25 turns lock to lock. the regular rack is 3 turns lock to lock. Quote
