I am having trouble trying to find my factory firewall grommet location on my 1990 Cutlass Supreme sedan. I am trying to run my audio cord to the battery. The problem I'm having is finding out a good location to run it through, factory or not. Anybody have any ideas that can help me figure out the right direction?

I drilled my own hole in the driver's side to run the cable through and then installed my own gromnet.

it's a tough spot to drill but can be done.  IIRC I did it from the inside.  Just have to be careful nothing is on the other side of the hole (fuel/brake lines/wires)

Dumb question but is your car column shift?

One goes thru the grommet that is just to the left (drivers side) of the vacuum booster, drawback is one has to remove the booster to see the grommet that is already there.

Yes it is Column Shift. Which reminds me I have to figure out why there's no indication of what gear I'm in. Bake82's Solution is the method I took for my OP.

ok, I believe column shift cars got the shift cable through that grommet which is why its not available for you.

My z34 has a clutch master cylinder there but I found a place to make a hole for the positive wire for my amp.
